Adobe Illustrator--Can't select a CMYK printer profile

I have spoken to 4 different IT people and none of them have been able to help me. But maybe you can!

So my coworker pointed out that my colors aren't printing correctly. Odd because I haven't noticed this problem before and I haven't touched my color settings either. After some investigating, we realized that my printer profile is set to an RGB icc profile, not the CMYK profile that everyone else has (Web Coated CMYK SWOP v2 or something like that). Instead, mine looks like this (see screenshot) and there is not a single CMYK printer profile option in the drop down box. Again, this is super odd because this has never been a problem for me before and I didn't do anything to my color settings.

I have the correct color profile downloaded to my computer, it's just not showing up as a printer profile option in illustrator. I don't think it's an issue with the printer itself because my coworkers and I all print to the same printer and none of them are having this issue. I have the most up to date version of Illustrator CC. My color profiles are syncronized in Bridge. The document is set up for CMYK. I tried uninstalling and redownloading Illustrator. I am running Mac OS Mojave (which I realize is not the most recent, but why would this be affecting my printing profile settings now when I've been using this OS for months?). I'm out of ideas. All of the IT people who have tried helping me are stumped. If you have a solution, you're my hero.Screen Shot 2020-02-14 at 10.26.07 AM.png

I would suspect a conflict with some legacy profile or an access problem. The pertinent questions to ask therefore would be:

  • Does the profile show in other non-Adobe apps?
  • Does it show up in older versions of Adobe apps?
  • Is there anotehr profil with a similar (internal) name?
  • Have you checked access and permissions on the relevant folder(s) where the profile is stored?

I'm a Windows guy, so just throwing out food for thought, but it may be worth checking those things.

Hey thanks for the speedy reply.

  • I tried checking a couple non-adobe apps and the print dialog boxes don't really give any options for specifying color profiles--I'm guessing because you would probably never need to color manage a print document unless you were printing from an app like Illustrator, Indesign, Photoshop, etc.
  • I don't currently have any old adobe apps on my computer because the templates I use for my job were created in the newest versions of the apps, meaning I can't even open most of my files in older versions of the apps because they were created in a newer version. If the solution was an app update, I guess I just have to wait until there is a new illustrator update.
  • No--the only color profiles that appear in that drop down box are RGB, not a single CMYK.
  • My coworkers and I all operate off of the same internal server so if there was a change in the access permission, I would think we would all be experiencing this problem.
