After restarting Illustrator 2020, group of Panels is missing on macOS Catalina

Every time I quit and restart Illustrator, one column of  tool palette windows does not appear.

Even when I save as a different workspace.

I then have to select one of them in windows ie Layers palette and the column appears.

This happens at every restart

This is what it should be like, not happy

Hi Susumu

I'm not trying to initialise anything, just set the workspace groups, even sved as new workspace and it still does not work. Somethingh I think that Illustrator staff need to lookl at given I did not have the problem a couple of upgrades back

Thanks for sharing the details, Ron.  Please check how Illustrator works without multiple screen setup?

If that doesn't work either,  then one-on-one support will be able to help you best. Please head here (https://helpx.adobe.com/support.html) and select the chat button in the lower-right corner of the page. We can help troubleshoot faster that way.

Thanks!

Hi,

You are using “Mission Control” with “Displays have separate Spaces”.

I tried to use this, but I could not reproduce that the Layer group disappeared.

But there is a problem. Illustrator does not support “Displays have separate Spaces”.

For example, if you click Stroke / Weight, the popup will be displayed on the right edge of the right monitor.

This is very difficult to use.

If you know it and want to continue using it, try combining the Layer group with the Character group.

Hi Susumu

Spaces is not the problem, turned them off makes no difference.

No, your reference to clicking stroke does not have that effect on my Mac, are you using a PC?

My workspace has no application frame, no application bar, no control bar.

Workspace tool pallettes are on the right side of the left monitor.

I find my setup very intuitive and quick to use - I guess my point is it hyas always worked in the past, I want ti continue that way.

Problem has been happening since the last few updates - don't remeber if it was a MacOS update or Illustrator update that started it, would be inclined to think it was Illustrator.

Hi, Frewity

If there are no problems using "Displays have separate Spaces", you can continue to use it.
The problem that occurred to me may be related to "Sidecar".

This is what combines layer groups and character groups.

Layer groups and character groups are not combines.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. That's definitely not a typical experience with Illustrator. I would request if you can share a few more details like:

Regards,

Hi Srishti,

Thanks for your repy.

MacOS 10.15.1, previous version same problem

Illustrator 24.0.1, previous version same problem

Mac Pro  8 core, 64GB 1866 MHz DDR3, AMD FirePro D700 6GB x2

2 x 27" Apple Thunderbolt displays

Yes, have always used multiple displays with Illustrator, App window and advanced tool bars on right montitor and workspace palette windows on left. Workspace started as Essentials, created new workspace and saved.

Turned off spaces in Mission control.

Tried Illustrator in Safe mode, same problem.

Tried various make overs and spotted something bizzare, when the app boots up, both workspace palletes appear and then as soon as the app window appears, one column of workspace tool paletes disappear.

I have tried this with different files and the same thing happens when the app is quit and restarted, Is OK when opening different files so long as I do not restart the app.
