.ai Files Last Modified time changing constantly

Hi

Wondering if anyone has come accross this issue...

We are having an issue with Adobie Illustrator .ai files where by the date/last modied times are changing constantly without them actually being open or modified.

The environment we have is users on Mac's and we have a window Server which the files are stored on.

It seems when we access the folder using the Mac's that use Adobe Illustrator the .ai files date/last modified time changes to when we access the folder. This is causing issues and the date/time needs to stay the same to not cause confusion.

Is there some part of the Adobe suite that scans the .ai files and adjusts them in some way?

Thanks
Paul

Maybe configure the system in a way that it just doesn't change the dates?

Illustrator doesn't know when you last opened them.

Thats not an option, when files are created/modified or accessed a date/time stamp is always applied to a file

The common denominator is the Mac machines that have Adobe Illustrator installed and its litterally only the .ai files in the folder that the time/date changes to so it looks definately like something Adobe Illustrator is doing, i was wondering if its doing some sort of thumbnail/preview of the file to try to speed up access/previewing (whether thats some sort of preview/thumbnail applied within the file to speed up preview or along the lines) to the file in some way thus modifying the last modified time.

This is more  a server connection  issue, but glad to help if you can provide some details so we can troubleshoot.

Is the server clock set correctly on windows?  Do you have the latest update to the server software installed? What Mac OS & Illustrator version are you running? How are you connecting to server AFP or SMB3 (do a command I on server icon)?

Is this only happening to Illustrator or Adobe CS files?

Hi Mike,

The Mac's are MacOS Sanoma 14.4.1. Server is Windows 2019 Standard with latest updates.

Time is correct on the server. Illustrator appears to be version 28.5.0. The macs are using AFP to connect to server, i will however try using SMB when i get a chance to see if there is any difference.

Seems to be just the .ai files in the folder everything else is fine

Cheers
Paul
