Blank palettes in Illustrator 2019 UI on Windows 10

I have a blank palette window appearing in the iIlustrator UI (the palette looks like the first image but can be expanded to the second image)

I don't have any plugins installed and I can't see anything obvious added to the Plug-ins folder.

Any ideas on how to proceed? thx

Thanks for reaching out. I see that you are getting blank panel and workspace. I would request if you can try resetting preferences for Illustrator and let us know if that helps: How to set preferences in Illustrator

Please note resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings and Illustrator will launch with default settings. Please do take a backup of the folders before resetting them. Location is mentioned in the article.

If that doesn't help, I would request if you can share a few more details like:

  • OS (Versions of Windows/MAC)
  • Version of Illustrator
  • Does it happens after launch or randomly while working on files?

No, resetting preferences didn't help, except now the rogue window has a generic plugin logo.

OS: Windows 10 Pro (x64)
Illustrator version: 23.03

Doesn't appear on launch (if the rogue window was closed in the previous instance) but appears with any file or if the rogue window was left open in the previous instance.

Thanks for the additional details. Please try these additional steps one by one and let us know if that helps.

  • Check if there are any recent changes made to the system, for example, any Anti-virus or Web Extension installed recently or any Windows update is installed after which this has happened.
  • If you do not find anything like that then please check how it works Safe Mode. If it works fine in Safe mode then there is some third party application or service which is conflicting. Please perform Clean Boot to turn off all third-party applications and services temporarily.

Please be assured that Clean boot will not remove any application, it will just remove it from startup services.
