Blendmode multiply in illustator

I try to make an reflection on an object by using blendmode multiply. For this I create an ellipse, put it black and use the gradient tool so that it gets black and white. I use then blendmode multiply in the menu transparency in order to get only the white color (black gets transparant) but the ellipse stays the same. While using a web document in rvb  the ellipse stays still the same. My object is correctly selected. Does anybody know what am i doing wrong or if i need to change options ?

Thanks you,

Julie

Is 'superposition' not Screen mode? That's the effect I'd expect from Screen, not Multiply.

Anyway, your object won't do anything on it's own. Put it in front of a coloured object.

Since the ellipse is Black, it is not necessary to blend mode the gradient ( the Black in the gradient will simulate transparency ).

Thanks you for your answer. I tried with a new document from scratch and this time it worked. 🙂
