Bounding box too big around my seamless art...creating a border

This a is a seamless repeatable pattern.....however b/c the bounding box is extended too far past the edges of the art, when you attempt to tile it out.....I creates a border around it.  This is a PNG file that the artist created....I work with these all the time, however the bounding box is always right up against the edge of the art work that extending over the artboard.

Is there way a to tell Illustrator to correct that bounding box to the art?  I've tried using object > artboard...I've tried rescaling....I'm at a loss here as Illustrator I only really know how to do what I know how to do...and this is not one of them!  LOL

Many thanks to anyone who can help.  I've attached images below.

You'll need to either crop the image: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/crop.html

or

create a rectangle with no fill no stroke and put it behind that PNG, then drag both into the swatches panel

or

use the pattern editing mode
