Can't edit same stroke color and weight

I edit CAD files in Illustrator that are composed of various colored lines. Some of the colors I want to delete altogether (e.g. all green lines). Do do this, I select a green line then go to Select>Same>Stroke Color. Then all lines of that color are selected and I can either make them black or delete them all.

Recently when I try this, as soon as I move the cursor after selecting a line, the Appearance section in my Properties window disappears. Opening the Appearance window separately is no help. The same happens when I try this procedure to change the weight of all lines (Select>Same>Stroke Weight). Any suggestions?

I'd rebooted the same morning. I tried it again this morning and it's working now, so it seems to be an issue with my system. Thanks for your reply.

What version of Illustrator and what operating system are you using? Have you recently upgraded either the program or the operating system?

WIndows 11, Illustrator just updated this morning. However before it did, I tried again and it's working so it appears to be a problem with my system. Thanks for your reply.

When was the last time you rebooted the computer?

Are you sure your mouse (or other input device) is running fine? Does it click on its own?
