I've just installed illustrator on my new windows PC. The colours are very dull for some reason. I've tried changing some of the colour settings (using my macbook as a guide - my mac has never had any colour issues like this) any help would be great!

Your color settings are unsynchronized for one thing (that can be fixed in Adobe Bridge). And the "Settings" box is set to Custom. The default is North American General Purpose 2. Aside from that all the other settings in the dialog box look normal for a standard Illustrator installation. The computer's graphics card and driver as well as the kind of monitor being used can also affect the situation.
