Convert Imported SVG to Outlines in Illustrator

I have coverted a Raster image into Vector using Photoshop and saved it as both an EPS and SVG, but when I import/place the EPS/SVG into Illustrator, there is always a rectangle bounding box around the two objects - how do I tell Illustrator to "Create Outlines" of the EPS/SVG objects. I know how to tell Illustrator to take text and create outlines - I want to do the same process, but on the objects imported EPS/SVG, instead of text.

If you look at the imported image in Outline mode (View>Outline) do you see the outlines of the image? If not then the image is still raster and the bounding box should be there. If you do see the image in Outline mode and you also see the bounding box then try selecting that with the Direct Selection tool (white arrow) and see if you can delete it.

What did you do in Photoshop?

Did you turn those vector paths into a shape layer? Or a clipping path?

If you embed that into Illustrator, then you should get the paths.
