Curvature Tool, Too Much Curve Help

My curvature tool was working great, but I don't know if I hit a button or buttons, but now when I double click corners I get nasty circle like curves instead of a nice easily drag adjustable soft curve. Help, please, I'm getting more than a little frustrated, as this setting ive activated is slowing down my work and I'm trying to finish a big project.

The auto handles set up for these curves are awful, as well, causing me to manually reset them which is less than ideal.

Could you possibly show screenshots or a video of this behavior? I can't seem to replicate anything that matches your description.

Thanks,
Peter

Are you talking about the Pen Curvature or the Curvature tool? The Pen Curvature Tool, Double hitting a corner converts it from hard to soft. What is it you want to achieve? If you want to move a corner, then perhapps you want to use the Direct selection (White arrow). What is it you don't like about the manual handles, it is not clear? Is it that you are wanting to round corners? Then it is not the right tool, what you want is the corner widget inside the corner when selecting with the direct selection (also looks like a bullseye but slightly finer ring round the solid centre dot, otherwise very similar to a sharp corner with the Pen Curvature tool, which may be what's confusing you)

I have been using the curvature tool for over a year to do my artwork that is the tool I use the most, this is a ssudden issue probably caused by pressing a button that toggled the curvature tool from its normal setting to this annoying setting. I used to be able to doube click corners and they would become soft curves, but now when I double click it does big round curves as shown in the example. The auto handles that create this round curve make it so that I have to manually set the curving handles with the direct selection tool to get a curve I can even work with.I used to be able to just make a corner a soft curve and drag it exactly as I wanted it without switching tools, which was awesome.

I'm at a loss to understand what you mean by "soft curves". Double-clicking on a corner point gives you exactly the curve you would have gotten if you'd laid down the points with the Curvature Tool (without the addition of the opt/alt key) in the first place. You can access the Direct Selection Tool temporarily just by pressing the cmd/ctrl key. To the best of my understanding, this is all normal behavior for the Curvature Tool. It's the Pen Tool that gives you control of the handles when you set a point. Sorry, I'm just not clear on what you're doing and what you're expecting.
