New to Illustrator and want to create stunning logos without ideating for hours? We've got you covered!

Check out this quick tutorial by Curtis Ying! Learn how to create a simple logo using basic Illustrator tools and the new generative AI features in Illustrator.

Get started with designing a logo in Adobe Illustrator. Follow the video tutorial or the step-by-step guide below to create a stunning logo in just five quick steps.

  • Add text
Select the Type tool and enter your desired text. You can either click on the canvas and start typing directly or create a text box by dragging on the canvas.

  • Change the color of the text
Select your text, and then select Window > Swatches.
Choose a color from Swatches or double-click the Fill to select colors from a wider range.

  • Change the font and font size
Select Window > Type > Character, and then select your text.
Select the drop-down menu to view the list of fonts, and then select the font. Select the Set the font size field and type a number to set the font size.

  • Add text on a path
Create the path or shape you want to use; in the tutorial above, we've created a circle with the Ellipse tool.
Select the Type on a Path tool and click on the path or shape.
Use the Rotate tool to adjust the text position by dragging it to achieve the desired look.

  • Add a creative edge using generative AI
    • Draw a rectangle on the canvas using the Rectangle tool as a placeholder for the generated artwork.
    • Select File > Generate Vectors (beta)
    • In the Generate Vectors panel, select Subject
    • Type the description of the graphic you want to generate in the Prompt field; in the tutorial above, we type Hot Dog.
    • Select Generate to create variations, and pick the one you like the most to add to the canvas.

For detailed information on Text to Vector (beta), check out this help article: Generate scenes, subjects, and icons using text prompts.

  • Combine the text you created with the generated vector. Adjust the colors of both the text and the vector to match your branding guidelines, and just like that, your logo is ready!
