I work in the area of garment manufacturing and I often create technical packs where I will draw an image on illustrator and drag it over to a large merged cell within the Excel sheet I am currently working on. However, all of a sudden this feature no longer works and my Mac makes that dreadful "Boop" sound when it denies you the ability to do something. When I then try Copy and paste, it will just paste gibberish. I even tried Paste special, however this only allows me to use the PDF setting and makes these tech packs humungous files. I just would like to know how to go back to the drag and drop method I was using earlier...

Well, It seems to be some sort of issue with the relationship. Just a few days ago, I wasn't having this issue and it has seem to come up unexpectedly. If it is in fact not a problem with illustrator and rather with Excel, I hope someone on this forum may be able to provide me with a solution.

I use Excel 365. While in Illustrator, copy your artwork. Next, go to your excel document. Choose "Edit", then "Paste Special" from the menu and make sure the PDF radio button is selected, then click "OK".

Oh, darn, I just realized you tried paste special and didn't like how huge the files turn out. Sorry about that!

Quite alright, I know theres a few ways around it. My main concern was that I lost the ability to work as efficiently and its bugging me a tad. Thank you for taking the time to answer regardless.
