Export as jpeg using the Artboard tool in latest Illustrator

Hi Everyone,

I have recently upgraded from my beloved old CS6 to the new Creative Cloud Illustrator.

I've always used the Marque tool to select the area I want to turn into a high res jpeg

using Export. For example an A2 artboard will become my A2 jpeg to send to a printer.

Howver in the new version where the same tool seems to now be called the Artboard Tool

saving a jpeg saves absolutely everything outside the selected area as well.

So if you have any other designs or even an overlaped bit of the drawing it will not save as the A2

sheet size.

I have tried allsorts to try and get it to save my (to scale) artboard only, which is how it

always worked before.

At the moment I have to take the export into Photoshop and crop myself, hard to get 100% accuracy

and of course this has a knock on effect with the scale of the finished print if my crop is not exactly A2.

You'll see from the image below how the jpeg export has captured everything on my file, not just the A2 rectangle

that I actually wanted to print. Even though the Artboard tool selects the A2 Artboard area only. I hope this makes sense!

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated - especially if explained in simple terms : )

Make sure that your artboard is the size you want and check the "Use Artboard" option during export.

Hi Ton,

Yay! that worked : )

Thank you for telling me I needed to tick a box, I hadnt spotted it at all until now (Photo attached for others to see in case it's not clear.)

The only thing is it looks I will need to tick this box every single time - you don't know a way to make it the default setting by any chance?

Thanks so much for your reply. You solved my problem and I an truly grateful.
