Getting My Gradient Swatch to Other AI Files

I have a silver gradient swatch that I named in one project file, and would like to use it on other project files.

For some reason, I am unable to get it to show in other files.

The simplest way to transfer a gradient from one file to another is to fill a shape with that gradient applied to it in the first file and then copy and paste it into the new file. The gradient will then appear in the swatch panel of the new file.

But first save the gradient in the swatches panel before copy/paste into the new document.
