Graph Tick Marks outside graph area

Community Beginner ,

Hi,

I need to update the data of an existing chart. When done, tick marks (lines) move outside the graph!
To try to resolve the problem, I opened "Graph Type / Value Axis" and put Length to None than come back and put it back. Problem still there.

Does anyone know why suddenly the lines are shifting?

thanks,

Weird.

If you haven't rebooted the computer recently, do that.

If it doesn't help, maybe reset the preferences. This will nuke your settings, so you might want to rename the Preferences folder.

If you have altered the graph manually from its original dimensions and/or stylized it then it is not unusual for elements of the graph to go a bit "wonky" if you change the data in the original spread sheet. I have found it necessary in the past to make a copy of the graph as it originally appeared after plotting (I keep it unstroked and unfilled so that it can only be seen in illustrator's outline mode). Then when I need to replot anything I do it on that copy. I then use the replotted copy as a template to base the changes to the stylized graph. Those changes I apply manually to the stylized graph.
