Hello community
I'm using a fancy grunge brush (like on the left), but I want it to be streaked.
When I select the "dashed line" function in Illustrator, the line now consists of countless small grunge brushes (middle) - but I want it to look more like a long, interrupted line (like on the right, simulated with a dashed line that is superimposed). Is that possible, without workaround of a second line?
Thanks for any hints!
Glad you asked!
Because that allows me to mention knockout groups 🙂 My favourite Illustrator feature.
Apply a second stroke to the path on top of the brush with the Appearance panel.
Make it dashed like the grey one.
Apply opacity = 0% to that stroke.
Set the path as a knockout group.
