Help making certain shapes transparent

Hi,

I'm working with the image below:

The hexagon in the middle is a shape and the 6 white lines are just strokes, not rectangles. I'd like to make all of them transparent so that only the green sections show up when I upload this image elsewhere. What's the easiest way to do this? I've been trying various ways of "cutting out" the white parts but haven't had any success.

Thanks!

if 100% built exactly as you say only 2 steps

  1. With all selected object >> path >> outline strokes
  2. pathfinder >> minus front

A more safer method incase you run into difficulty.

  1. Select strokes
  2. object >> path >> outline strokes
  3. select all white filled objects
  4. pathfinder unite
  5. add green shape to selection
  6. pathfinder >> minus front
