Hi Adobe, my name is Moris Aldana and I live in El Salvador. I am writing to request your help. In my work I use Adobe Illustrator to make statistical graphs and it is very useful, but I have to be faster (I know that is not your fault, but I have no one to turn to) and for that I need the support of a script that make my work more agile. I tried the "Datylon" add-on that is very good but it only works in illistrator CC 2019 and mine is 2018. So, do you know any script that can help me make statistical graphs faster? Something I have not seen in the program? Any help is welcome. Thank you

Is there some reason that you cannot upgrade to CC 2019/2020? If you already have CC 2018, then upgrading should be free through the Creative Cloud app.

Oh really? Well, I didn't know that. So I would have to install the
creative cloud application and update it there and it's free?

It is free to update your Illustrator through your Creative Cloud subscription. But any third party plug-ins or add-ons may or may not be free and you will need to make sure that their latest version is compatible with the newer Illustrator. Contact the maker of the plug-in to find out cost and compatibility.

This is a good point, Bill. However, it is also possible to download and install a newer version of illustrator without removing the old one. So Morisa could download 2019 (or newer) for the purposes of the add-on they want to use, without necessarily affecting the functionality of any add-ons or plugins that they currently use with CC2018

That's correct. If you have a subscription service (to my knowledge, that's the only way you could be in posession of CC2018), then you can open the "Creative Cloud" app (it should already be installed on your machine) and look for updates under the "Updates" tab. (see screenshot)

You need not uninstall or remove version 2018. You can use both versions concurrently (which i encourage, becuase it's not uncommon to encounter varying degrees of compatibility issues when updating Adobe Illustrator.) That way you can utilize the add-on you want to use, without being strictly tied to the newer version.

Hope this was helpful..

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. In addition to great responses given earlier. I'd recommend checking out help article https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html to know how you can update your app.

Latest version of Illustrator is CC2020. If you click on update, your app will be updated to CC2020.
If you want to install CC2019, please click on https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/using/install-previous-version.html to do that.
You may keep multiple versions of Adobe Apps on your machine. Hope it helps.

Regards,

Ashutosh
