Hey there everyone, i've been trying out to reach this effect on Illustrator, the original artist uses Processing to do that an i couldn't find a way to reproduce it the same way using Illustrator.

At first sight it seems a bit simple but taking a closer look there's something intriguing, the Zig Zag effect kind of dimmers as it gets close to the "edges" of each character.

Does anyone knows if that's possible?

That's a pretty cool effect. I like how the wave direction on each circle is originating from the center. The intensity of the waves must be created using a pixel-based source image with a certain amount of blur applied to it (otherwise the change in wave intensity would not be gradual). But, yeah, it looks like a good bit of coding work similar to what would go into an effects plugin would have to be written to generate this kind of effect. If the effect can be generated automatically by the tool set in either Illustrator or Photoshop I'd sure like to see a recipe for doing so.

Unless you write a JavaScript for it: I don't see a solution.

There are scripts for this: https://vectorslate.com/adobe-illustrator/vector-lines-distortion-effect-in-adobe-illustrator/

There is a plugin for this: https://astutegraphics.com/plugins/widthscribe

And then there is this: https://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/101175/3d-lines-effect-in-illustrator-photoshop

All somewhat related, but still missing great parts.
