Help with SVG exports

Hi there,

I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm very new to Illustrator. I've got an AI file sent from a branding agency that contains all my icons, however, I'm trying to create a new icon with the same shapes and fonts, to be exported as an SVG file. When I try to create a new icon though, I open it up in Chrome after exporting as an SVG and the text doesn't fit within the shape, but it looks fine in Illustrator. I'll attach screenshots.

How can I get the file to export and ensure that my text fits inside the shape? The ones already created from the agency are saving fine, so I'm not sure what I'm doing incorrectly.

Thanks,

Lauren

When the font is swapped might look similar but reflows, so outlining the font will lock you into to no reflow. YOu could embed the font, but I rarely do that, ubnels was a document with lots of text. I usually use svg for web image for logo, buttons, graphsand such, so never much type.
