I am working with a stock illustration. As you can see, the light bars in this screen shot clearly have transparency attributes. But when I look at them in the Properties and Appearance panels, they show as 100% opaque & blending mode set to Normal. And there don't seem to be any Fx.
So: where else does transparency come from?

It would be better if you show us a screenshot selected "light bars" with visible Layers Panel, Appearance Panel and Transparency Panel.
One shot into darkness:
Maybe this could be a transparency mask.

Can you double click the Group item at the top of your Appearance panel?
It shows that transparancy has been applied to the group.

They may look transparent but can actually be flattened to remove the transparency but keep the appearance.
You can check if they are transparen with Window menu > Flattener Preview.

Makes no difference.
