Hey,
how can I draw this building? I have problems at aligning the windows in the correct angle. Is there a way I can get this done easily?
draw your wall, and with it selected, choose New Symbol in the Symbols pallet
For your 3D shape, start with an oval close to the curve that you want.
It will take some experimenting with the settings to get it to look the way you want.
You can use the pen tool to click on that ellipse path to add points or use the Object > Path > Add Points function.
The points need to be added to the ellipse, not to the symbol.

You could create the window grid flat, make a symbol of it, and then map in onto a 3-d shape.

Thank you! That looks exactly as I want it :). Could you explain it more detailed eventually? Im quite new... How do I create a symbol and then map it into a 3d shape?

Thanks again 😄
How can I create a 3D-shape like you? I just draw an oval and did a 3d effect on it

I just realized that unfortunately I have the 2020 version. There is no panel for "3d and materials"... D: Is there another option?

The 3D classic effects allow mapping as well. Check out the link that Kurt Gold posted. And scroll down to the very bottom of that page.

Can you share the AI file?
Dropbox or Creative Cloud will be fine. Just post the link in here.

I don't know the reason behind it, but when you resize the mapped art to only the highlighted section of the pane, it shows in color; when it is stretched to the whole frame, it goes to grayscale.

Okay thank you. And what about th scale of the windows?

Hey thank you for your help 🙂
I did it! The problem with the windows was caused by the outline/stroke of the object. I just deleted it and everything was in the right place 😄

Thank you.
So the distortion is the easy part. If you add some points on the paths, it will get solved. It's the different length of the handles that throws off Illustrator. I don't know why the color doesn't work. I simplified that pattern which had way too many anchors. I also tried expaneding the pattern, but both did not solve it. I couldn't find any transparency in the file which might have caused this.

SJRiegel solved this first problem :C But how can I resize the windows?

As I said: add points on the path.

Im sorry. I overread this part of your answer. How can I do this? It is mapped as a picture and I cannot edit it. Could you please explain in more detail?
(I'm very new to illustrator but need it for my university)

Hey I have added the points but it did not change. I can move them, but then it isnt an oval anymore 😞
Where do I have to move them or shouldnt I?

SJRiegel already gave you the basic idea of the approach.
