How to isolate dots after expanding them?

I've made the dots using the pen tool and then converting it to dashed lines etc. only problem is that I need to change all the colour of the dots to different colours. I've expanded them but they still select as a whole line. I've also tried to isolate each of the dots and ungroup them but they are still selected all together. How can I select them individually?sc2.pngsc1.png

They are a compound path as you can see in the top left of the document window. That can be released via the Object menu.
