How to print a sewing pattern on multiple 8.5” x 11” sheets from AI

Hello!

My daughter is doing an internship at a sewing school and I am trying to help her.  She has created some sewing patterns in Illustrator.  They want to be able to have people download the pattern and print on a home computer on 8.5 x 11 sheets and tape together to use.  What is the easiest way to accomplish this?  Any direction GREATLY appreciated.

Just off the top of my head...

Try the Rectangular Grid Tool. You'll need to do some math to calculate how many 8.5 X 11 sections are required.

Cover the entire pattern with the Rectangular Grid.

Convert the grid to guides  Object > Slice > Create From Guides.

Select the grid - Object Slice--Create from Guides.

Select the slices, then File-Save Selected Slices.

Set up artboards in the size you need. Then export a PDF with multiple pages.

Like Monika said, find out how many pages you need to fit the sewing pattern.

Create a new document with the right number of artboards and 0 spacing between them.

Paste the sewing pattern in the new document and save as PDF.

But that solution requires a printer that can print borderless when a 100% scale is required.

You can just divide the total width and height by the relevant side lengths (depending on Landscape or Portrait) and round up to nearest integer, then multiply the two numbers.

But you may wish to place the pattern differently to keep certain areas within one page each, which may take a bit of moving about.

So the easiest way may be t create a Letter rectangle (Landscape or Portrait), then repeat Effect>Distort & Transform > Transform > Move (by the 11" and 8.5" with a more than sufficient number of copies horizontally and vertically, then move it about until you get a best fit, then take it from there.

In special print centers, is it possible to divide and print large-scale prints in equal proportions? The size you specify is smaller than A4. A4 (21 cm x 29.7 cm). It is the unit of measurement and paper on which printing devices are based. I think that the size you specify should be centered on this page, divided and packaged in order to remain in one piece in A4. If the patterns will form integrity when combined, I suggest you work on a single whole piece. Use the automatic dividing system during printing.

The size specified is letter. It's the standard in the U.S.

1. Set up one full-size Artboard for the whole design.
2. View>Show Print Tiling.
3. File>Print> Media Size: Letter. Scaling: Tile Full Pages. Overlap: [as desired]

Now you can work on the whole sewing pattern on one Artboard, at full scale. You can turn on or off the display of the page tiling as you work, and you can set the desired amount of overlap to facilitate assembly of the printed sheets.

Est-ce qu'il y aurait plus de détail sur cette manière ce procéder ? Moi aussi je fais des patrons de couture à partir du logiciel pad system et je souhaite grandement savoir comment les exporter dans illustrator, et faire un placement et chevauchement des feuilles pour imprimer mon patron PDF. Je recherche depuis longtemps des informations et même des cours et je ne trouve rien .
