How to remove a bump?

I am looking for the best, most simple, or quickest way to clean up a line or curved section with an unwanted bump or poorly designed small section while maintaining the initial shape or section. See the example image.

The smooth tool doesn't quite work on this, but it is the right idea. I just want to drag across a problem area and hope it calculates a smooth missing section.

I have Astute Graphics, and the best solution I've found so far is to select the problem sections or segments, delete them, then use the Close Smooth option in the flyout ment in Pathscribe.

Is there a better way?

Thanks in advance. MJ

The best solution I found is to delete the sections or paths that make up the bump, then use "close path smooth" in Astute Graphics Path Scribe.

THose bumps are huge. I would delete those segments. And then use the Connect Tool in Subscribe
