I want to type "1. " etc, to add labels to an illustration, but Illustrator keeps turning it into a numbered list and my single space after the period becomes a large gap. I can find no way to turn this off so that I can just type a single space. If I click on the numbered list button to remove the numbered list formatting, it takes the number away. Is there a way I can just have a single space after a number and a period???

Since updating to v27.0 the preferences setting to 'turn off Automatic Bulleted and Numbered lists while typing' no longer works. It automatically bullets lists regardles of if the setting is on or off. I have cleared my preferences and deleted preference files to no avail. Is anyone having similar issues and does anyone have any ideas how this annoying feature could be turned off any other way? Thanks

Here too. So so frustrating.
Just found this fix a couple of weeks ago and was thrilled it worked but as mentioned, not anymore...
