Then I make a Pattern Brush and apply it to the artwork. Then use Pathfinder window to subtract the effect.

I hope this helps!

Inspired by Skullmaker's method and Hiroyuki Sato's Metaball script, I've worked out this not-quite-refined-yet halftone simulation using two strokes on a path and matched up-and down brushes. I appreciate the expertise that you folks share here.

Thanks,
Peter

I find it very hard to believe that Peter's work was done in any recent version of Adobe Illustrator. As we all know from this forum, all recent versions are abominable... larded with bugs and imperfections... almost completely unserviceable... produced by an avaricious and immoral corporation whose last priority is its customers... a company that refuses to repair program defects as it laughs cynically all the way to the bank. No artwork as attractive as Peter's could possibly have been produced in this bug-infested excuse for a vector graphics program.

I suspect he made it either in Illustrator 8 or in MacPaint.

Actually, Doug, I did it on my 1960 Etch-A-Sketch, then scanned it.

Snow Leopard, CS3. And thank you.

Scott,

I'm happy with the results of my method because it is exactly what I

wanted for a particular task, but Zowie!, yours is excellent, with all

kinds of control, and massively faster. Very nice.

Thanks,

Peter

I think is impressive that Peter can work with a half done application. He is very talented.

I remember someone crying because it could not create a 3D effect. No even using the latest fiasco of CS4 version

http://forums.adobe.com/thread/446149

Talent does not come in a box, only people without skills are waiting for the computer to do everything for them.

Software is just a tool, and Adobe is providing lousy tools with no updates.

Since you work for Adobe disguised as a regular user, I can laugh that you omitted "Software is just a tool, and Adobe is providing lousy tools with no updates."

Could you ask your PM (Product Manager) why Adobe is refusing to provide updates. Thank you!

That’s an easy one. Updates cost money, but you can’t sell ’em.

I know, Adobe pays for these employees disguised as a regular users for damage control, but refuses to fix its failures.

Truely, you haven't a clue. Doug is no more an employee of Adobe than I or any of the rest of the regular contributors.

Larry, a valiant effort to perpetuate the disguise, but it looks like the game's over. We've been found out. It's time for all of us to come clean. You, me, Zimmerman, Weichert, Bugge, Talmage. Especially Talmage. His gig is really good... feigning disenchantment all the time... hats off to him.

Now that we're out of the closet, rumor has it that they pay you more than the rest of us. Is that true?

Skullmaker, my dear friend, what's the pay scale like at Corel? I know they've now fixed every last one of their bugs, but do they pay anywhere near as generously as Adobe? And how about the training? Do they teach deep e-undercover techniques? Adobe has an excellent new course on it. I've not yet been through it myself. But then again, you obviously could tell that.

Don Quixote also said: "Paranoia is good for the soul."

Alrighty then! Back to halftoning!

Jacob,

Will you please do as Skullmaker (yes, his mother actually named him that) requests, and ask your Personal Message why Adobe refuses to provide updates? Remember, customer service is job one at Adobe. And we have people watching you.

[Pssst...Doug, Corel pays me twice as much as Adobe. Pass it on....]
