Illustrator bugging in diverse ways

Hey,

I've used illustrator for many years and would say that i am familiar with the program.

For the last two weeks, however, it has acted in strange ways. Problems occur - I reinstall the program - it works for a couple of hours before coming back again. I say "strange ways" because the bug is not consistent to a single issue - they vary. Let me list the bugs that I experience:

- When applying dash to a line through the stroke function, a thin line is drawn between the individual dashed (center). If i try to apply a gap between each dash it automatically becomes solid. Functioned normally after reinstalling the program.

- When plotting a PNG all layers is plotted, including those that are hidden. It appeared to follow a specific file and does not occur with other files ive created since.

- Using eyedrop tool on a pattern does not copy it, but rather the colour of the pattern (fixed through restarting the program).

- Using rotate-function solely on patterns do not function /does not show in preview (fixed through restarting the program).

- Dragging a selected object to another layer using the small rectangle next to the layer it is in does not function /makes illustrator black out for a minute before continuing to function.

Does any of this make sense? Does anyone / Adobe have an answer as to why this is happening / how it might be fixed? Other than the bugs listed above the program seems to be functioning correctly. I am using Illustrator 27.6.5 right now, but have tried installing versions down to 26.5 to see if it might help (which it did not).

Sincerely,

Bendik

When was the last time you rebooted the computer?

Did you already reset the preferences (this will erase all your settings)?

Thank you for the reply, Monika. I did not try to reset the settings!

What I did try, however, was to run a check on wether the hdd was working okay (tip gotten from another thread). This reported a problem with the hdd, which windows went on to fix (externally from any Adobe-software). So far, it seems to have solved the troubles.

If anybody else is facing similar problems in the future: navigate to the harddrive in fileexplorer --> right click --> settings (bottom) --> tools --> check the system --> fix if any errors are detected
