I will have good long stretches where Color Picker in AI will will preview in real time as I click around in the color field or move the color slider, (This is essential for dialing in colors) then all of a sudden it will just stop previewing. I'm up to date with the software and have tried this in both CPU and GPU mode but with no luck. Can anyone shed some light on why this keeps happening? I've seen lots of instances of people on forums saying that there is no preview in Color Picker, which just simply is not true. I use it a lot and it works a good amount of the time. Thanks in advance

27.6.1 does not support live preview in the Color Picker, it does in the Color Panel sliders and ramp.

Ah, I knew this answer was coming, but as I said I have been previewing color live with the color picker for sime time now. Is it possible that this is some kind of "good bug" lol. Because I am telling you the 100% truth. In fact co-workers of mine are experiencing the exact same behavior, so I at least know that what I've been seeing is real.

Sure, it was there a few versions ago. See: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/whats-new/2023-1.html

Ah, thank you so much. Felt like I was going crazy. Do you have any idea whey they would remove such a sensible feature. Seems like an incredible amount of hubris to decide that feature would be removed.

Adobe… Constant little changes in user interfacer like one described doesn't help productivity. It makes me long for the days when Adobe CC was not an online subscription.

Adobe CC was already a subscription.
You can turn off automatic updates and keep the version running that works as you like it to.

I may begin doing this. But then you miss out of useful features that are included in later updates. Any idea why they would remove such a useful feature as real-time previewing of color changes? Maybe if I understood the reasoning behind something like this I wouldn't feel so disgruntled... maybe.

They might have done that, because it wasn't working to their full satisfaction.
You might want to tell them that you want it back and in which way it would improve your work. https://illustrator.uservoice.com
