Illustrator --- Glitch

I've noticed a glitch/pattern here.

I can create the smallest vector, shape, circle, block of text, anything, then another, copy paste, doesn't matter but any two objects, doesn't matter how small or large. Then select them both, and Group them. If i then "double click" into this group, to 'isolate' an object, then desselect it all. >>

Once these actions have taken place with absolutely any series of objects/shapes/text etc, my entire file starts to freeze/lag across the screen, as if I imported about 3 terrabytes of information. The only way to fix this is to save file, and re-open illustrator. The lagging/skipping accross the screen then stops once newly opened.

I can repeat this process over and over and over, with any two objects.

This happens on ANY new file, ANY shape/text/image that is grouped with another, then isolated, then simply desselecting that isolated object or group once again. I believe this to be a glitch. I know it might be specific to me, but it is VERY noticeable and is ruining my work flow, and is a new issue for me as I work in Illustrator.
New behavior for the program.
Causing major issues for me.
Thank you for your time.

It would be helpful to know which Operating System, and which version of Illustrator.

Have you tried restarting your computer?

Sorry I should have provided that, also I feel silly as I only restarted the program.
I did just restart my computer and same issue occurring.

Currently on MacOS Catalina.
I'm using what says the "Latest Version" of Illustrator being: 26.0.3

Hope this helps some.

I am runing the same and recommend staying on Catalina. Illustrator default is to save with PDF compatible on, I would start with save as and turn PDF compatible OFF. Am guessing these vector objects are all clean and created in ilustraror and not imported from another program which could have added some corrupt code, Correct?  Try:

Reset Prefs Thoroughly (Mac)

Quit Your Adobe App (100% you must do this)

Finder >> Go (hold down option to show hidden) >> library

Rename these 4 folders

  • Preferences >> Adobe  >> Program Name rename to (Program Name .old)
  • Library- >> Caches >> com.(Program Name) rename to (Program Name .old)
  • Library >> Application Support >> Adobe >> Program Name rename to (Program Name.old)
  • /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP rename to (CEP .old)

OOBE RESET MAC

  • Quit the Creative Cloud desktop app  (100% you must do this)
  • /Users/<user folder>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE
  • The \Users\<user folder>\Library\ is hidden by default for macOS 10.7 and above. See Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 and later for instructions to access it.
  • Delete all the files within the OOBE folder, but do not delete the folder itself.
  • Restart the computer and launch the Creative Cloud desktop app again.
