Illustrator is opening same font weights multiple times

macOS 14.2.1 / Adobe Illustrator 28.1

Has anyone seen this? When I open documents which contain fonts which should be activated automatically through Adobe Fonts or — in my case the Typeface app — multiple instances of the same weight is listed in the font menus although I have only one weight installed on my system.

I tried clearing font caches with Onyx but that didn't help. Could also be a problem with Typeface, I contacted the developer and he's researching the problem as well.

When Typeface is inactive and I open a document which contains Signika Semibold, no font is activated:

With Typeface active the same weights are listed multiple times:

When I open a file which contains Open Sans ExtraBold it is activated multiple times through Adobe Fonts it seems:

Weird. If anyone knows a solution, I'd love to hear it!

If this only happens with that Typeface app, then the cause of the issue should be easy to find.
