Just spent a while browsing threads to find a solution to make this work effectively.

The solution I have found is to: save graphic as svg, open in open office, right click- break, save as powerpoint, open this file on a windows device running the latest version of powerpoint, then save as a up to date ptt. the file should now work on windows and mac. fill colours are editable.

Sounds like they want an editable vector file in PPT originating from AI.

Mac PPT used to convert an WMF to editable vectors until support for Quickdraw was eliminated. Now it's a pain.

What I recently learned though, is that I can copy and paste most vector AI elements to and from PPT. That means I can edit a placed PDF in AI even if I don't have the original AI document. This works on Mac OS X 10.8.5/AI CS5/PPT 2011.

has anyone tried this recently with the new Mac PPT version 15.21.1 office 365 subscription.?

I can copy in Ai. and paste a graphic directly Into PPT now (I used to have to go via a paste in Keynote when using PPT 2011.)

it all works fine until you hit Save in PPT, when it rasterises the image and dumps the transparency and completely ruins the image.

there doesn't seem to be any setting for image quality (i.e. Keep the current res or original or downsample to "On Screen 150ppi" etc) - although that is available as an option from the File menu (Compress Pictures...) it works more as an action on the current open doc, but is ignored when you hit 'save' even if you have selected 'Use original' Etc.

the result is that any old docs i open now become ruined and i can't create any new ones in the same manner.

The only work around is to export the image elements from Ai as png. where PPT then behaves well enough.

or to rasterise then hit copy and take to PPT to paste. but the old Vector route was much better for future proof scaling up etc...

And the fastest route of just hitting copy paste that i have used for years is broken...

is there a way to make the default clipboard format from AI save as an emf rather than pdf, ? (i have tried the options in the Ai prefs with no relief. also I have tried going Via Keynote which still gives same problem.

any ideas...>
