I'm having a lot of problems using keyboard shortcuts in Illustrator CC for Mac. They'll will work intermittently. No keyboard issues anywhere else. Is this a bug, or something I can remedy on my end?

@colling_s which mouse are you using?  is it the Apple magic mouse. maybe it starts to listen for keypresses to enable some additional features.

Not sure if it is the same issue as here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5221035?tstart=0

Had that same issue for months. Using a 2022 Mac Studio, Monterey 12.6, CC2022.

Try quiting/restarting Safari.

Seems Safari is conflicting somehow. Hopefully there is an update soon.

Are you using a wireless keyboard or mouse? Plugging in my old, non-wireless mouse seems to have eliminated the problem for me. Not a fix, but perhaps a workaround until Adobe fixes it.

It does appear to be focus issue for me. Clicking on another program and then returning to Illustrator does return the focus. However, that's not really a solution, considering the whole idea of command keys is to avoid unneccesary clicks. Any word on whether this bug will truly be fixed? If not, I may return to CS6 for now (like I did with inDesign) and wait for the updates...

I am also experiencing Keyboard Shortcut issues, and they are sporatic. Its frustrating, however, because I use the Keyboard shortcuts very often as my left hand! And I've been using Adobe Creative Suite since its inception and have never experienced this before. Is it a bug?

I have a Mac Book Pro Mid Year 2012 and have CC installed, CS6, CS5.5 and CS5.

I too am having this issue, hopefully Adobe hops on this quickly. Mid '12 MBP with cs6 and cc installed. Its not an application focus issue, it is a bug.

I should also add that the only thing that gets the shortcuts functional again is hitting the Esc key, which is super obnoxious. Feel like I am trying to run in quicksand while I am working in Illustrator CC. Ugh.

I've found this to be the most reliable function to fixing the unresponsiveness issue. It normally, very quickly, happens again soon after, but this works.

I'm also having this problem. Command+Tabbing out of Illustrator (to the Finder) usually remedys this problem for about a minute, and then it reverts back to not working! This is really infuriating. Will try without a wireless mouse, but this seems like such an unnecessary thing to do. Really hope Adobe fixes this quickly, I'm really starting to regret upgrading to Creative Cloud.

I have the same problem.  This combined with the problems in Indesign is costing hours and hours, which obviously equals $$$$.  Does Adobe test in real circumstances?  I hate being the guinea pig to fix bugs and glitches.

Same here. It's happening randomly and out of nowhere. The application is not losing focus, shortcuts just suddenly stop working. For instance, while you can't zoom out with CMD '-' the app is properly registering pressing of the CMD key – info in the status bar changes as usual. I call a (frustrating) bug.

Same problem, and driving me nuts. Illustrator is unusable when this keeps happening. Deleting, typing, shortcut keys – all intermittently unresponsive.

I am also having this issue. Hopefully a fix for this bug will be released soon. I may re-install CS6 as a work around until this is resolved, its quite frustrating and slows down work flow.

Also having the issue. Buttons just don't work. Sometimes clicking on stuff doesn't even seem to work at random.

Not to be redundant, but I'm also experiencing the same problem. If I mash down on the keys over and over and over, eventually they work, but it's more than a little frustrating and a major waste of time / effort.

Hopefully Adobe will address this issue ... soon.

I concur. If anything, this problem is getting worse, not better. Also, the thread referred to was for CS4. Is Adobe planning a fix for this? I think I'm going to switch back to CS6. This is really messing with my workflow.

A quick (temporary) fix I've found is simply clicking on (or switching) to an other application, then back to Illustrator CC. It seems to correct the problem, if only for a short period. It's not a permanent fix, but it's a work-around ... for now.

I've been doing that too. When that quit working reliably for me, I gave up. Back to CS6 for me now. 😕

I'm curious, is this not working for people only using Lion/Mountain Lion, or everyone?

My thought was, maybe it's Spaces screwing with it for whatever reason. Does anyone else working on multiple spaces have this issue?

I tried really quickly just going to one desktop space and messing with it, it didn't seem to have any issues, but it was quick. This isn't exactly a FIX, but if working on one space stops it, then at least it's better than downgrading?

I read on a couple other threads that using the Magic Mouse with Illustrator CC seems to cause this problem. I switched back to my old USB mouse, and haven't had any problems with the shortcuts since. Really ridiculous that I can't use my Mighty Mouse with Illustrator CC, but it seems to fix the problem for now.
