Logo missing in pfd loaded into Illustrator

Hi,

I got a bunch of pdf's I've opened in Illiustrator and I notice the logo is missing. I can see a rectangle where it should sit but it's not showing.  An external source created the pdf and I'm suppose to do some changes, so I don't have the original files..

Can I fix this with the documents I've got or is the solution to ask for the original logo-file?

Thanks in advance,

Karin E

Make a new files and File > Place the PDF.
Embed it. You can then select and copy the logo.

But anyway: making changes to a PDF in Illustrator is not ideal. Unless the file has been saved with "Illustrator editability"

Hi,

So where do you mean I copy the logo from if I don't have the original?

Yes, I can see that editing PDF-s in Illustrator isn't ideal... Im not sure why this was suggested by my coworker. I'm new I didn't know this wasn't real practice and will take this with me for next time.

Thanks for trying to help,

/Karin

Hi Monika,

I followed your steps:

Make a new files and File > Place the PDF.

Embed it.

and then the logo was there! Didn't needed to copy paste anything

Thanks for helping this newbie

Thanks to Barbara too for trying to assist!

Glad you could solve it.

Since I did not know how the file has been saved, I proposed this copy and paste method.

A PDF file may contain an AI file part, which you access when just opening the PDF. This is best for editing, because it is a native Illustrator file.

When you place a file, you access the actual PDF. This is not ideal for editing, but it contains all the placed images.

That's why I proposed to access the PDF, copy what you need.

Then go to the AI and place it.

This way you get the best of both worlds.

If you open the PDF in Acrobat or Reader do you see the logo file?
