Hello everyone,
We have seen multiple reports of a script error related to Photoshop and the following workarounds have fixed it for many users.
1) Uninstall (remove preferences) and Reinstall Photoshop
Disclaimer: Please note that renaming preferences folders will remove all the custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also save a backup of the folders, the location of which is mentioned here.
2) Open the JSX file in a text editor, which is available at
"/Libra

@brittanyf28238571 are you running a script when the error occurs? Or does it appear when you launch Illustrator or Indesign? Can you then use the app normally?
My expertise is scripting, so if it is a script that is missing a brace and can show you where it needs to go, but I'd need to see the script, of course.

I'm also having this issue when I launch Illustrator.

thanks for replying!
No I'm not running any scripts and never have. It appears when I launch indesign and illustrator. I can continue to open up files but it is SO glitchy that it's unusable (e.g. no drop down menu opens - like fonts or font size, zooming in or out / panning is extremely delayed)

Okay this appears to be a bug for multiple people now. It's out of my area of expertise so all I can do is suggest the basics: uninstall and then re-install Illustrator in the hope that it is fixed. If not, then run the Creative Cloud Cleanup Tool. See Instructions.
Good luck and let us know if something works.

Users in the Indesign forum have reported the same problem with Indesign. It might be a buggy script installed as part of the latest Photoshop Beta. Do any of you guys have the Photoshop Beta installed? Or recently downloaded Photoshop?

I have Photoshop Beta installed and I believe it received an update just a couple of days ago.

Hey @Jami Murphy any chance you could post that photoshop_2025.jsx file? The path is in the error dialog above. You can change it to .txt to bypass the forum's restrictions on file types if necessary.

Hello @m1b ,
I need some help with a script. Could you please assist me?
Is there any scripting possibility to adjust this dialog box in Photoshop?

@punit_9859 for questions about Photoshop scripting please ask on the Photoshop forum.
By the way, did you solve the "msising Brace" problem you reported here?

I was hoping someone could help me with this error code I receive when trying to open Adobe Illustrator 2025 (29.4) on my 24 inch Imac 2023 M3 running Sequoia 15.3.2. Illustrator opens fine and seems to operate OK. I just keep getting the same error code as seen in the screen capture every time I launch the app.

Try if uninstalling Photoshop Beta works.

I had this issue starting Illustrator and InDesign, running on Windows 11 Home. I also had Photoshop Beta installed. All updates installed. The folder 'Adobe Photoshop' did not exist in 'Startup Scripts CC'.
I uninstalled and reinstalled Illustrator and InDesign but the issue persisted. I uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop Beta and the issue was resolved. The folder 'Adobe Photoshop' now exists in 'Startup Scripts CC'.

I had the same issue. I uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop Beta, and the scripts in Bridge started working again 👍 Just wanted to share that.

Thank you very much, in this way it was solved (at least in my case). Win11 + Photoshop beta.
Illustrator starts correctly.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/
p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

That's an issue with a startup script in the latest Photoshop. Some typo in the script. I have seen the fix mentioned all over the place last week, but cannot find it now.

Hello @Gabriel5E9E,
Would you mind copying the Startup Scripts CC folder to the desktop and then deleting it from the folder listed in the error message to see if it helps?
Looking forward to hearing from you.

I've just checked, and couldn't find the folder named "Startup Scripts" inside Application support / adobe.
It looks like a bug. Used illustrator normally today even with this error. The error show a few more times (like 5 or 8) and the illustrator works just fine.
My photoshop is already in the latest version. This error started since i've updated photoshop.
