Hello, I need your help removing the Monotype App/Monotype Plugin/Monotype Extension traces from my Macbook Pro and Adobe Suite. This has gone on for well over 4 months now and I've continued to work around it but it's costing me time and money as a freelancer.
- I have a MacBook Pro
- The Monotype App continues to show up in my extensions dropdown, even though I've deleted every *searchable* trace of it, using your support steps shown here.
- Every time I open an Illustrator file that contains links or images, the images start duplicating and piling up on top of my file, causing me to go in and delete each extra image, one by one.
- Then, I go and check images that were linked within a clipping mask. Here, I find multiple, stacked-on-top-of-eachother duplicates of the images. I delete the extra images.
- THEN, I have to go in and relink every single image file.
- On top of that, even if linked images don't stack and duplicate, I've found where images that remain linked get fuzzy, so I relink them.
- On top of this, I recently sent a brochure proof to a client, where all images were "linked" and no images were duplicated, but one image (that I hadn't re-linked manually, even though it's linked and looks fine) continued to show up blurry for my client until I relinked it manually a second time.
- I'm having to relink my images, and every image at that, EVERY TIME I close and re-open a file. This is UNACCEPTABLE and I wish I never downloaded this plugin. A fellow designer told me about it and it caused these same issues for BOTH of us.
- I tried deleting the plugin and searching my computer for "monotype" but nothing else came up. I've updated my Adobe programs, one by one. I've restarted my computer. I've followed every tutorial I can find on Google. NOTHING will stop this image duplication issue.

Extensions can be removed using the CC app.
Did you try to go in the Creative Cloud App to the Stock & Marketplace section and select Plugins > Manage Plugins?
Can you find the Monotype plugin there?
If so, click the 3 dots and select Uninstall.
Otherwise contact Monotype support or Adobe support during week working days
For Adobe Support, ask for an Agent in the chatpod.

Ton, thank you for the quick response. Unfortunately, Monotype is not showing up under "Manage Plugins" and the Monotype team (who I've been working with via email) can't tell me why Monotype is still showing up under Illustrator > Window > Extensions dropdown. It says "Monotype Fonts." The image duplication issue didn't occur until I downloaded their plugin.
Please keep me posted if you or anyone else has any other ideas for resolution. Thank you! 🙂
