Hello! I recently downloaded adobe illustrator. I have NO experience at all using it! I don't even edit photos or videos. I am trying to design a logo to use for everything I would need for our store we are opening online and eventually a store front without breaking the bank! So website, facebook, instagram, cards, banners, bags, etc. I have managed to get it exaclty the way I want it to look, but when I try to go put it on Facebook, or my website it isn't turning out right. Is there a tutorial or guide on exactly what to save and how and why so I know which file goes with which place I'm trying to put it? An example of the trouble im having is when I am asked to put my logo in commentsold.com it has to be 500x470. How do I get that right with the logo I already designed and saved.

Illustrator is advanced software, so I'd recommend getting professional training. Nobody can really just sit down with it and get what they need. For your specific issue, design the logo to be just under 6.9 by 6.5 inches. I don't mean inches measured on the screen! I mean Illustrator's own measurements, which will be different. Then export a PNG and with a lot of luck it will be the right size. (How did I work that out? I divided your measurements by 72. No, nobody would guess!)

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. If you have already designed a logo and you wish to resize it depending upon the place you want to put that logo in, you can use the Scale Tool to resize it without making changes to the actual logo. For more information on Scale Tool, you can refer to the help article below:

There is a great plug-in that helps you export logos for every possible format that you might need. It is called Logo Package Express and is pretty easy to use.

Hello, and welcome, you've come to the right place for answers.

In addition to using the forum search tool to find answers to questions that have already been answered, there are plenty of tutorials to get you started with Illustrator. And there is always Google.

To save a copy of your logo at a specific size (probably in pixels) go to File> Export> Save for Web (Legacy). You can adjust the size as needed. There are other ways to do this (there always is), so you might get some different answers.
