Need some help with Swatches !

I was just wondering, so I have a isometric shape that I want to fill with a swatch , How would I go about making the swatch apply face down on the shape in a direction of my choosing, so I can create roads, ect  rather then having a normal tile effect.. ?

You can apply the pattern and then transform it.

Double click the shear tool, enter the desired amount and then uncheck the transform object option.
