What opperating system must be used on mac to allow CS4 adobe illustrator to work? My illustrator will not open. I had to

install an old operating system previously to get illustrator to start working. But now it has stopped working again. I'm currently using Mac os sierra. Illustrator prompted me to install java- which I did, but there were no results.

Thank you!

I can open and do simple stuff in CS4 on Yosemite.

I don't use CS4 regularly, so I can't tell you about overall stability.

What's also important: I didn't need to install it. I updated the system and CS4 still worked. This usually doesn't work that way. But it also means that I can't tell you if the installer runs on Yosemite.
