When you save in illustrator to pdf. The field form is no longer on pdf file Mac.

Using Illustrator 24.0.3 and Acrobat Pro DC

The pdf created has the field form already set. I added a few changes in Illustrator and when I save.

I would have to re create field form again.

Correct answer John Mensinger

"I open the pdf in Illustrator and just save - not save as.

FYI I have done this before without no problem. It just started doing this issue."

Yes, although I haven't used this workflow for a long time, I can confirm it used to work the way you describe...and now it doesn't. Try this instead:

  1. Open [original form].pdf in Illustrator
  2. Make edits
  3. Save As [different filename].pdf
  4. Open [original form].pdf in Acrobat
  5. Go to Tools > Organize Pages > Replace Pages
  6. Choose [different filename].pdf as the source of the page replacement

Adobe had this problem since 2006 and before.

Adobe has not done anything to get this issue resolved.

Great idea with forms but shody programmers at adobe. Useless function and it will never be fixed because they can't. I am forced to use Microsoft Excel to make forms. So stupid!

You dont believe me? see link:

If Adobe would stop asking us to wait for upgrade and actually fix the problem then allot of things can get done.

There are too many people commenting on this issue with tricks but little resolve. Let Adobe respond them selves.

What exactly is your problem?

You are linking to a problem with LiveCycle Designer from 2006, which is a totally different workflow.

It probably depends on how much editing you need to do, but it worked for me when I did choose the second option when opening the file in Illustrator.

It does not show that when I open through Illustrator. It just open.

The Replace Pages way that John described works, but I also could succesfully edit the file from within Acrobat: Edit Pages > Edit Using > Illustrator.  Save the file in Illustrator, close the long numbered temp file in Acrobat and save the file.

Do you open the pdf in Illustrator or do you open the pdf in Acrobat and from within Acrobat do an Edit in Illustrator?
