pdf's into one file

Not sure if this is Illustrator or Acrobat based question, but I have four PDF certificates that i want to merge into one PDF for email purposes. I tried this in illustrator which proved easy enough, though the final document saved at 35mb and this is not suitable for email. All four original documents are less than 1mb, so i really don't understand what is happening here. I tried compression when saving, but that only got me down to 15mb file, still to large for email. I come from a photography background so I'm use to resizing and resolution, though i understand thats not how illustrator works.

Try to export PDF from Illustrator (Save As PDF) and choose Smallest File Size option from a Preset menu - on top PDF Export window

Combine PDF files in Acrobat for sure. For example use File > Create PDF > Multiple files or similar. Many ways. All much better than AI which is not a general PDF editor.

Totally agree with Test Screen Name, merge them using Acrobat.
