You cannot do image editing in Illustrator. That's what Photoshop is for.

Hi @nicola21798474r4i0,

It's not a stupid question at all! To bring a photo from your iPhone into Adobe Illustrator for editing, you'll need to follow a few steps:

  • If you have a Mac, you can use AirDrop to transfer the photo directly to your Mac. If you're using a Windows PC, you can use third-party apps like Intel Unison to transfer photos wirelessly from your iPhone to your computer.

  • Launch Adobe Illustrator on your computer.

  • If you don't have a document open already, create a new one in Illustrator.

  • Go to the "File" menu, then select "Place" (or "File" > "Place Linked/Embedded" in Photoshop). Navigate to the location where you saved the photo on your computer, select it, and click "Place." This will import the photo into your Illustrator/ Photoshop document as a linked or embedded image, depending on your preference.

  • Once the photo is placed in your document, you can use various tools/ effects to edit it. Keep in mind that Illustrator is primarily a vector graphics editor, so while you can make some adjustments to raster images (like photos), it's not as robust as dedicated photo editing software like Photoshop.

That's it! You should now be able to edit the photo within Illustrator. If you need more advanced photo editing capabilities, you may want to consider using Adobe Photoshop instead as Monika suggested.

Let me know if you have any other questions or need further assistance!

Best,

Anshul Saini
