Precise Selection not detecting paths

Hey guys,

I'm kinda new to Ai. I've been checking throughout the forum but couldn't find a solution. For some reason my precise selection is not detecting paths. I select the Pen tool, then press Caps Lock to activate precise selection and it does turn into a cross. Here's the problem: it detects anchor points but it won't detect paths even though it is checked on General Preferences.

Am I missing something? Do I need to turn something else on or off?

Thanks

I've checked and nothing seems to indicate why this could be happening...

Ok so I found out that if I create a new shape it will allow for precision marker, then checking the layers found out that the shape that won't allow this is labeled "multiple stroke" (sorry if it's not accurate it's because mine's in Spanish) could it be that it's because it's two merged shapes that won't allow this?

That does not sound familiar.

What does it say in Spanish?

Can you show the layers panel?

I've noticed the moment I merge two shapes, precise marker stops working, only when I merge them via pathfinder or the shape builder tool. Once those shapes merge, I lose ability to use precise marking, but works like a charm before that merge. Screen Shot 2020-04-04 at 19.51.48.png

A Compound Path should not give that problem.

At least I cannot reproduce that.

Which version of Illustrator are you using?

Did you try to restart Illustrator, your computer or reset you preferences?

Sorry, I did not explain correctly. It is not a Compound Path what generates the issue, it's when I expand two shapes together that I lose that ability. Recreated it and recorded it:

Can you share a sample .ai file that suffers from that issue?

Hey, thanks for the reply.

The one on the left are two shapes not expanded, and allows for precise mark on path.

The one on the right it's the same, but expanded, and won't allow for precise mark.

Your file works fine, I get feedback when I am over a path.

Did you try to restart Illustrator, your computer or reset you preferences?
