"the file is damaged and could not be repaired" illustrator

I am using CC17 and I saved many Artworks. Suddenly when i check the file today I can not open the file. Some file says "the file is damaged and could not be repaired in illustrator". I can see my project in the start up folder but i wont open. please help this project took forever.

Do you have all the external paths / designs in his folders or fonts installed?

Hey there

Try opening the file in Acrobat. If it opens there, then change the file extension from .ai to .pdf, and then try reopening it in Illustrator; then re-save it as a new .ai file.

Let us know if it works.

    It wouldn't open in Acrobat?

    OK, create a new Illustrator document, use the Place command, and see if you can place the file. It may appear dimmed in the file list but you should still be able to place it. Could you try that, please?

    Also worth a try is to turn off gpu acceleration, temporarily. Click the rocket in the Options bar.
