Repairing a notch or glitch on a heart (for example)

I am attaching a screen grab of a simple heart that has a glitch at the bottom. I am looking for a simple way of repairing it, while maintaining the integrity of the curves that should lead to the corner point.

I have Astute Graphics installed, if you know of a tool there that would do this job.

Thanks in advance. MJ

Select that inward pointing anchor with the direct selection tool and delete it, which opens the path. then use the Join tool (from the toolbar, not the Join function in the Object menu)

Monika, That video is helpful. The catch in your video is you left a long side on the left for the right side to fill in. If you look at my example, both sides are shorten slightly. For this to work correctly, the software would have to extend the natural direction and path of the bezier curves until they collide and add a corner point.

In asking this question, I was able to find the answer, even though it is not fully automated. Astute Graphics has an "Extend Path" tool that anticipates the flow of the curve. On the open paths, after deleting the two straight segments, the Extend Path gives me two little red indicators to let me advance each curve. After using the AG Trim and Join tool, get the desired final results.

If you ever zoom in on an offset path, you will see small straight line section. This AG Extend Path tools can fix that, too.

Thanks for the guidance! MJ
