Resize a shape in Illustrator CC

Please forgive me if this is really silly but I have been asked to resize a bespoke shape in Illustrator/check the dimensions. It's a closed path with 4 points. Is there a way I can custom edit the length from one point to another on each side of the shape to match the new dimensions? I tried direct selecting two points at a time but it didn't work, If how do I draw this shape in illustrator - 4 sides but all different length sizes. Thank you!

Stephanie,

Silly is good.

As I (mis)understand it, you wish to change the size so that the distance between two Anchor Points is changed to a new specific value, while keeping the proportions.

If so, you can, Smart Guides are your friends:

1) With the Line Segment Tool (you may need to find it, you can use the three dots in the Tool palette to do so), ClickDrag between the two Anchor Points;

2) Still with the Line Segment Tool, DoubleClick somewhere on the Artboard, then Ctrl/Cmd+S to save the length; you may delete the line now or later;

3) With the (normal) Selection Tool Click the path (and line), then Object>Transform>Scale and insert 100 times the desired new distance (just add 00 or move the decimal point two places to the right), then / for division, then Ctrl/Cmd+V to insert the original distance, remember to remove the unit (or you will get an error).

That should give you the right size and shape.

You can ClickDrag with the Line Segment Tool and DoubleClick again to make sure that the new distance is right.

Thanks for your reply. Basically I need to draw this using the specified dimensions. How would you do it?

Hi

How do I draw a shape to be these exact dimensions? I will draw it at 10%. Thanks,

Hi, I suggest you try this: Have the object selected and then choose Window→Transform to open the Transform panel. From this panel you will be able to modify your shape

Hi!

Thanks for your reply. Maybe there's an easier way?

Basically what I'm trying to do is draw a shape in Illustrator, and the dimensions of each side have been supplied. Please see attached. How do I draw that to be those exact measurements (at 10%).

Thank you

Hi everyone.

I've been asked to draw this shape in Illustrator using the dimensions specified in the picture below (at 10%). What's the easiest way for me to do that? Thank you.
