REFERENCE: Spacing dots more naturally - 1905

AS YOU CAN SEE, 

I MADE A PATTERN ALMOST SAME WITH THE PATTERN B, WHICH WAS MADE BY OTHER ILLUSTRATOR.

BUT THE RESULTS ARE VERY DIFFERENT.

(WHY?)

THE PATTERN USING TWO DOTS (PATTERN C) IS BETTER THAN MINE(PATTERN A),LESS NATURAL THAN PATTERN B.

I MISSED SOMETHING?

You need to add the invisible rectangle behind your dots.

Go into outline mode and compare the patterns, then you'll see. Also check the layers panel for the stacking order of objects.

You could also try the pattern editing mode or creating your pattern.
