Type tool not typing straight

I have never seen this before and it has just started happening, seemingly of it's own accord! When I go to type the type tool in Illustrator it's not typing the text in a straight horizontal line, can anyone help please? Have I possibly, accidentally ticked something on? I have attached a pic with a ruler included to show how wonky the text is. Please help, this is so frustrating, I'm trying to design a logo for a client and can't get on!

    Oh my gosh, Monika you are an absolute star!! I must have changed the 'Constrain Angle' instead of the 'Keyboard Increment' by accident, thank you SO much.

    You're welcome.

    Should this happen regularly (and you didn't even open Preferences) it might also be caused by Preferences corruption. So please watch if it happens again.
