Hi,
For making the reflection of an island with a straight line at the bottom in the water I can reflect the object on the horizontal axis. But when I do that same process for an island with a curved bottom I get a wrong reflection. Is there a way to make the correct reflection for the island with the curved bottom (right one in image below) in the water?

1. Draw a horizontal waterline.
2. Select islands and lines and split them with Pathfinder.
3. Invert only the upper part to make it a shadow.

I would think that you would just then edit the points on the reflection to match the bottom of the island. The peak in the water will be correct and shadow just need to meet the land, so just move the anchor points. There isn't anything that will make them bulge out by transforming if that is what you are looking for. There are the bloat and warp tools, but I think jus moving the anchor points is your best bet.

How about just reflecting as on the right side, and then select the reflexion and Ctrl/Cmd+X+B to have it below the original (in the stacking order), and then move it upwards underneath the original until it fits at the ends?
That will give the same apparent(ly identical) viewing angle of the reflexion (relative to the original) as on the left side.
All this apart from the inherent error/simplification of the viewing angles in both cases.
