Yes. Now I just need to know if I need to add more RAM or not? 128gb enough?

Probably you have just hit the limit of the functionality. Maybe try a real 3D app for that?

I have a full rack-o-ran in my Mac Pro and it ain't enough.  Heavy Illustrator, PhotoShop & Fusion 3D.  108 GB range.  Full size motorcycle graphics.

@rrricster it's most likely the RAM, as PhotoShop & Fusion 3D takes up alot processing power. One of my students was trying to use Illustrator and Photoshop (and granted, she only had 8 gigs of RAM on her MacBook Air), and a hard drive of only 128 gigs of hard drive space. Her Photoshop kept on crashing, even though she still had  ample space on her MacBook. I suggested temporarily uninstalling Illustrator to see if that resolved the issue, and it did. Surprisingly, after reinstalling Illustrator, the crashes stopped. However, she learned that to prevent future crashes when working with both Illustrator and Photoshop, she would need to close one application before opening the other. She is now looking at the new M3 or M4 with at least 36 gigs of RAM or more.

Have you tried restarting and only using Illustrator?

Inflate is processor-intensive and not very reliable. Can we see what you are trying to inflate? I was getting this error on Mac 2024, but worked better in 2023. Sometimes it would work sometimes it would not.

For me I only need the effect occasionally on simple items like the word HOMER only,  then it works much better.  Please explain the 5,000 paths in task manager as that is alot of paths to be inflating. is the 5,000 the same as doing a window >> document info >> object (flyout menu)?
